Two Artists. One philosophy. Glass jewellery at its best.

Marina and Susanna Sent elaborate a family language in glass making, finding their own original expressions in the traditional field of glass beads and jewels. The two sisters from Murano, Italy, chose an exemplification of form strictly related to contemporary design in order to develop creative ideas in a sybergic dialogue.

Tacky and kitsch are two adjectives often found in conjunction with the most colorful and extravagant interior design objects, knickknacks and jewellery pieces made in Murano, the island in the Venetian lagoon where glass art already exsisted in the 7th century. Yet, in the last decade, Murano based Marina and Susanna Sent have been revolutionizing the world of glass accessories from their workshop. Inspired by the minimalist design, they create glass dresses, corsets and jewellery pieces. Often black and white glass elements are used to create geometrical necklaces made with clear hand - blown glass baubles threaded onto a fishing line evoking the magic of the sea, while their dresses and corsets are not armour-like pieces, but, thanks to the flexible glass knitwear-like technique they use to create them, they become fashionably wearable items. Made of Murano glass beads, the beads look like they are effortlessly floating on the wearer's decolletage. Obviously, the most difficult thing for the artists when working with glass, is being able to balance the weight with the shape.

Each of Sent sisters contributes to the definition of the project and to the production process with their individual sensibility and experience. The poetic cascades of blown glass spheres become elegant necklaces, or glass fabrics bind together in warp and weft of inventive biomorphic pearls, and can transform in lamps refracting the light in phantastic prisms, or clear dresses created with playfull irony - ambigiously impossible to wear, and therefore all the more fascinating and desirable. The accurate investigation of the potentialities of technique and form in glass making leads Martina and Susanna Sent to attain elegant visual and sensorial combinations with different materials - like wood and paper, in their search for new frontiers to explore the beauty of form and the sensuality of the object.
